This thriving Southern California advertising agency was bursting at the seams after winning several large accounts. When contiguous space became available in the building, they grabbed it for their Design and Creative Department to occupy.

Our marching orders were clear: "design and build a space compatible with their existing space, yet with some improvements: better and more democratic use of natural light, take advantage of the views, explore creative furniture alternatives, design a lively and creative space that will inspire and cultivate creativity and collaboration, yet not be such a dichotomy from their existing space that it results in inequities, hierarchy among departments, or a sub-culture within their corporate culture. Make this space innovative to lure top recruits in the field, Oh, and of course, build it on time and on budget!"
The design philosophy was to plan the space with all full height offices inboard with maximized glass storefronts and glass doors to promote an “open door and accessible” policy among all staff. The

teaming cubicles are planned to be on the perimeter glass with sliding glass doors to let the natural light flood the space. Adjacent the teaming areas are café tables with plug-and-play outlets and plasma screens to promote

collaborative exchanges of ideas. The kitchen area, with a cappuccino maker, stainless steel industrial millwork, cork floors and walls, and an epoxy stained slab is open to the space, again, to promote communication.

The conference area is also opened on to a library
and “hang out” area. We designed orange honeycomb and stainless mobile screens on industrial casters as a psychological barrier in lieu of traditional glass or drywall at the conference room.

Overall, the space is crisp and light with an industrial twist.
